JH Members are invited to join artists from the Moving Arts Collective for a hands-on cyanotype workshop inspired by 19th century photographer Anna Atkins, exploring seaweed and early photographic processes.
Cyanotype is an old photographic process that involves iron salts and ultraviolet light. Using locally gathered seaweed, you will create striking blue images while working with the natural forms that shaped Atkins’ pioneering studies.
The Moving Arts Collective created ‘Vraiqu’sie’, a collaborative exhibition on display at Elizabeth Castle, which reimagines the relationship between land, sea and community through the Island’s tradition of vraicking (collecting seaweed).
As part of the workshop, the artists will give a guided tour of ‘Vraiqu’sie’, offering insight into Jersey’s seaweed-gathering heritage and its contemporary reinterpretation through art, film, sound and song.
All materials are provided.
Tickets: £12 (plus Eventbrite booking fee), booking form below.
